The IPL auction has concluded, and when it comes to the IPL, CSK is always a top choice for many fans out there. Let’s take a closer look at their squad and evaluate their performance in this auction.

It’s easy to form a probable 11 from the retained group alone. Apart from Ambati Rayudu’s exclusion, everything looks the same.

Let’s consider the potential CSK IPL 2024 playing 11:

1.Ruturaj Gaikwad

2. Devon Conway

3. Shivam Dubey

4. Ajinkya Rahane

5. MS Dhoni

6. Moeen Ali

7. Ravindra Jadeja

8. Shardul Thakur

9. Deepak Chahar

10. Matheesha Pathirana

11. Mahesh Teekhsna

In the impact substitute role, we might witness a few changes. Tushar Deshpande could strengthen the bowling, and Mustafizur Rahman might get more opportunities due to his intelligence in powerplay and death overs.

Batting has never been a concern for CSK, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway delivering strong performances in 2023. Ajinkya Rahane, despite surprising many viewers who question his strike rate, adds stability to the middle order. The decision between Moeen Ali and Daryl Mitchell is tricky; while Mitchell is a like-for-like replacement for Rayudu, a high price tag doesn’t guarantee a spot.

Harsha Bhogle recently noted that CSK doesn’t solely rely on big buys; they focus on developing players to sustain the team post-MS Dhoni.

Addressing a weakness from last year, CSK concentrated on improving their death overs bowling. The inclusion of Mustafizur could be crucial in preventing the team from frequently conceding over 200 runs.

Debutants

Two new additions are Sameer Rizvi and Avinash Rao Aravelly. Rizvi, a batter from Uttar Pradesh, boasts an impressive T20 record. Avinash Rao Aravelly, a left-hander from Hyderabad, is one to watch, though he hasn’t played many list A matches.

The big question revolves around where Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell will bat. Rahane at no. 3 may pose a challenge for Ravindra. Mitchell, coming off an excellent WC, could fit at no. 4 or 7, replacing Rayudu or Moeen.

In conclusion, CSK has a strong team with a strengthened bowling lineup. They seem to have addressed the previous shortcomings and appear well-prepared. It’ll be fascinating to see how they perform in the upcoming season.
