17 seasons, star-studded team, players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and earlier, AB de Villiers. But surprisingly, not a single trophy in their cabinet. What is the reason behind this? Is it their batting, bowling, consistency, or poor team selection? As of now, it seems to be a mixture of everything.

They have a team that every franchise dreams of. undoubtely that the batters this franchise has are the best in the IPL. Who wouldn’t want Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Faf du Plessis in their teams? But there is an old saying in cricket: batters win you games, but bowlers give you tournaments. There is no hidden fact that RCB never bet on good bowlers, and that is something that is costing them in almost every season.

In today’s day and age, it is easy to chase 200-plus targets in T20Is. So, even if you score a ton of runs, you still have to defend the target. If we look at this year’s RCB team, they got Alzarri Joseph, Tom Curran, and Yash Dayal. From the outside, it looks like they might go a little deeper and dig out some more experienced genuine bowlers.

Yes, they have Mohammed Siraj as a genuine pace bowler, but if you look at other teams, they have invested more in bowlers. KKR went so far as to buy Mitchell Starc for more than the IPL championship prize. On the other hand, Pat Cummins provides genuine strength in the lower-order batting consistently and is an expert swing bowler. Players like Lockie Ferguson could make an impact with his skiddy action, but it will be intresting to see if he gets a chance in the playing 11 consistently or not

RCB is known to bet on youngsters, as they have been doing since the early stages of the IPL. Players like Virat Kohli started here and became a legend. Now, Mohammed Siraj is doing well and has become a permanent fixture for India because there performances spoke really well in the IPL.

This year, they have also bet on a few players, and it’s going to be interesting to see there performances this season

Saurabh Chauhan, a player from Gujarat, is all set to move to Bangalore and play for RCB in IPL 2024. With an average of 29 in 19 matches and scoring 464 runs in T20 domestic tournaments, he is a decent buy for RCB at a base price of 20 lakh.

Alzarri Joseph, a 27-year-old West Indian, is all set to join RCB in IPL 2024. Alzarri has already been associated with teams like Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. With 19 T20I matches and 32 wickets, albeit with a slightly high economy of 8.77, he is a good buy for RCB. As a first-change bowler, he could play a major role. Alzarri has excellent experience in ODIs and Tests, though he has not been in regular touch with T20Is. With his association with Mumbai Indians and then Gujarat Titans, he had a decent outing with these teams, bagging 20 wickets in 19 matches. It could be a sure-shot gamble played by the RCB management, which is going to be interesting.

As an IPL viewer, we want to see a bit of contest between bat and ball, and the truth is, RCB has failed to contribute with its bowling. But with a few changes this year, how it’s going to make a difference is a question.
